Tree Fort Productions Projects Announces  Summer Show and Auditions

It’s the 1980’s a time of mixed tapes and mixed emotions. Cath and Scott
were best friends in high school, while she has gone off to college he stayed
home working in his father’s clothing store. Can their friendship survive long-distance letter writing, college boyfriends, family challenges, a band without a
van, and more? Adapted from the acclaimed YA novel by Michael Kun and
Susan Mullen.

Auditions:

May 26th 2:30-5:30

Run time: 75 minutes One Act

Roles: 

Cath: The actor identifies as a female, bright young freshman in college who is optimistic about her future.  Age range 18-25

Scott: The actor identifies as a male, smart young High School graduate who is slightly pessimistic and a band singer at heart. Age range 18-25

All actors are paid and both Equity and non-Equity actors are welcome at auditions.

Schedule:

• First rehearsal July 15
• Opening July 26th, Closing July 28th

• The run is 4 shows
  • July 26th and 27 at 7:30pm
  • July 27 and 28th 2pm with a talkback Sunday.

Shakespeare’s Lovers, a new play by William Shakespeare and Katherine Michelle Tanner, will take to the stage June 10th and 11th at the Asolo Cook Conservatory Theatre as part of the Squeaky Wheel Fringe Festival 2023.
The play weaves twenty-nine of Shakespeare’s sonnets and nineteen new sonnets written by Tanner that tell the story of a poet and painter as they navigate first love, lost love, and lasting love.

“It truly is a Valentine to Shakespeare and is a perfect first Shakespeare show for those who aren’t as familiar with his work. Its playful nature is enhanced with a pop-up storybook style set and costumes that suspend disbelief for one hour as you get lost in the timeless love story.”

Onstage for this production are Sarasota’s beloved actors Derek Brookens, Katherine Michelle Tanner, and Blake Walton who is also directing the play.

Tree Fort Productions Projects is the newly formed not-for-profit 501c3 branch of Katherine Michelle Tanner’s Company Tree Fort Productions. It is dedicated to quality performing arts classes and programming for Youth, Teens, Adults, and Seniors while offering a Mainstage Theatre Season and Films that are committed to the authentic exploration of the human spirit through classic, modern, and original work.

While Shakespeare’s Lovers has had numerous staged readings and has aired on WUTC Public Radio an NPR Station, this will be a two-day Fringe presentation on June 10th and 11th and will have its World Premiere as the second show for
